JEAN-PAUL BRONCKART was born in Belgium in 1946, and has pursued his academic career at the Faculty of Education Science of the University of Geneva.

After working with Jean Piaget at the International Centre of Genetic Epistemology and with Hermine Sinclair at the Department of Psycholinguistics, he has worked there since 1976 as a full Professor of Language Teaching. His research work has centred on the problems of personal development, discourse analysis and language teaching.

A few years ago he redirected his research efforts towards the analysis of actions and discourse in the working environment.

JEAN-PAUL BRONCKART has produced over 300 publications. The following of his works are published in Spanish: Teorías del lenguaje (Barcelona, Herder, 1980); Las ciencias del lenguaje: ¿un desafío para la enseñanza? (Paris, UNESCO, 1985); Actividad verbal, textos y discursos. Por un interaccionismo socio-discursivo (Madrid, Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje, 2004); Desarrollo del lenguaje y didáctica de las lenguas (Buenos Aires, Miño y Dávila, 2007).
