María Vallet Regí (1946) earned her in Chemical Sciences PhD in the Complutense University in Madrid and is a Professor of inorganic chemistry in that university. In 2011 she was awarded the Leonardo Torres Quevedo National Research Prize in Engineering for her extraordinary contributions in the field of ceramic biomaterials and other biomaterials for their application in trauma surgery, odontology and tissue engineering.

Description

María Vallet detailed the headway attained in biomaterials over the last fifty years as well as the introduction of nanomedicine, briefly explaining some of its biotechnological applications.
