Ulrich Beck - Conference Zientzia Foroa

Conference: What kind of Europe do we want? The current crisis is not a debt crisis. These debts are the expression and consequence of a political crisis

Date: Thursday, 1st December 2011

Time: 6:00 pm

Place: Guggenheim Museum - Bilbao

German sociologist Ulrich Beck (1944) is currently a Professor in Munich University and in the London School of Economics.

As the author of concepts such as the "society of risk" and the "second modernity", Beck studies aspects such as modernization, ecological problems, individualization and globalization.

More recently he has also approached the exploration of the changing conditions of labour in a world with growing global capitalism, in which trade unions are losing their power and work processes are being made more flexible, a theory that is becoming rooted in the concept of cosmopolitism.

Description

Ulrich Beck spoke on the current crisis and on the model of Europe we wish to build.
