Composer
Born in Bilbao in 1930. Musical studies (piano) since the age of 7. Self-taught, he composes at 12. Composition with Max Deutsch (Paris) and Darmstadt courses (Germany) since 1956. Over 150 works of all genres: orchestra, chamber, soloist, concertante, vocal, electronic, 5 operas, all performed by diverse artists: Arditti quartet, Pierre Boulez, Bruno Maderna, O.N.E. Paris Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan, Claude Helffer, José Ramón Encinar, Rafael Frühbeck, Massimiliano Damerini, SWF Baden-Baden Orchestra, NDR Hamburg, Berlin Philharmonic, Arbós Trio, etc.
Professor of Composition in Buffalo (N.Y.), Ottawa, Montreal, Madrid, Milan, Strasbourg, courses on his work in Paris, Madrid, Ueno Gakuen (Tokyo), Instituto Di Tella (Buenos Aires), Santa Cecilia Academy (Roma), Elisabeth School of Music (Hiroshima), UCLA (Los Angeles) etc.
Academy of Fine Arts (Madrid, Granada) Academy of Santa Cecilia (Rome), Belgian Royal Academy, Officer of Liberal Arts in France, Gold Medal of the king of Spain, Spanish Red Cross's Gold Medal, Gold Medal of the Circle of Fine Arts (Madrid), Guerrero Foundation Award, CEOE Award for the Arts, Cities of Rennes and Lille Award (France), Member of the European Culture Society since 1966, the INA (Institut National de l'Audiovisuel) dedicated him a 12 hour interview for its image and sound archive, he founded the first Spanish Electronic Music Laboratory (Madrid, 1964), founded the private ALEA centre which presented the public of Madrid modern chamber music and music from non-European cultures (1965-1973).
De Pablo has recently been elected member of the prestigious Regia Accademia Filarmonica de Bologna.
"Honegger" Award (Paris) to the collection of his work, "Pierre de Monaco" Award, Doctor Honoris Cause by the University of the Alcalá de Henares (1996), Guerrero Award (2006), Tomás Luis de Victoria Award (2009) etc.
His music is published in TONOS (Darmstadt) Salabert (Paris) and Suvini Zerboni (Milan).
