Linguist

Graduate in Romance Language and Literature (Barcelona 1959), PhD (1967), Spanish language lecturer at the University of Navarra between 1964 and 1970, and Basque language Professor at the Basque Language and Culture Faculty (1964-70), obtained post of Associate Professor of Spanish Language at the University of Santiago (1970-1975). Returned to the University of Navarra, to teach Spanish Language and Basque Linguistics courses, specializing in Spanish Studies. In 1981 obtained the Chair of General Linguistics at the University of the País Vasco, joining the university for a short period of time and then returning to Pamplona.
During her second phase in Pamplona (1975-2002) she taught Spanish Language, General Linguistics and Basque Linguistics and several PhD courses. She supervised theses in Spanish and Basque Linguistics, as well as degree dissertations and Master's degrees and Research Papers.
In 1994 she set up and supervised the Diploma in Basque Studies, in which students take part from various faculties until 2002 when she was appointed Professor Emeritus.
At the University of Navarre she was the Director of the Department of General Linguistics and the Basque Language and Culture faculty, Assistant Dean of the Philology Division, Librarian General and representative of the University of Navarre on the Permanent Board of the Society of Basque Studies ( 1978 -2002).
Academic member at the Euskaltzaindia (Royal Academy of the Basque Language) since 1982. Board Member of the Navarra Council for the Basque Language 1996-98. Member of the Technical Commission of the Pamplona Council: 1997. Spokesperson of the Fundación Colegio de Navarra on behalf of Ikaskuntza (The Society for Basque Studies): 1998-2002.
