University Principal
Jean-Louis Gout has been the President of the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour since April 2008, after having been President for two previous terms of office, 1988-1993 and 1998-2003.
Born in Albi in 1944, he is an associate professor of Mathematics and Mathematics PhD. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Conference of University Presidents from 1990 to 1992, a member of the Personnel/Ways and Means Committee of the Conference of University Presidents from 1988 to 1992 (Vice-President of the Committee from 1990 to 1992). He was a member of the National University Coordinator, 23rd section (Mathematics) from 1982 to 1984, and a member of the National Advisory Committee on the University Institute of Technology (1992-1994). He was a member of the Aquitaine Regional Economic and Social Council from 1989 to 1992 and from 2001 to 2005, and an Educational Advisor for Mathematics/Information Science to the Ministry (Board of Higher Education, 1997/1998).
He returned to the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour in 1967 as an Assistant, and is currently an exceptional-class university professor.
He is the author of some thirty articles written in the field of applied mathematics.
Jean-Louis Gout is a Knight and Officer of the Order of the Academic Palms, a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour.
