Orchestra Conductor
Shara is one of the leading representatives of a new generation of Spanish conductors. Despite her youth she has already enjoyed a highly promising career, conducting some of the world's truly exceptional orchestras, such as the “Israel Philharmonic” and the “London Philarmonia Orchestra”. She studied composition and orchestra conducting at the conservatories of Bilbao, Vitoria and Madrid, where she was awarded Honour Prizes. She subsequently won a scholarship from the Spanish government to continue her postgraduate studies with great masters such as Sir Colin Davis (with whom she has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra) and with Zubin Mehta at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
At the same time, she was accepted by the New York University in Manhattan for a comparative course on the different conducting techniques of Toscanini, Karajan and Bernstein (advanced instrumental conducting). She is currently completing her PhD in orchestra conducting at the Music Department of New York University.
She has conducted a great number of orchestras, including the “Orquesta Sinfónica de La RTVE”, “Orquesta de Valencia”, the orchestras of Mallorca, Murcia, among others, and has worked in some of the most important concert halls in the country, including the “Auditorio Nacional de Música” in Madrid, “Palacio Euskalduna”, “Auditorum de Zaragoza”, “Palau de Valencia” and the “Teatro Real de Madrid”. She has conducted the “Frankfurter Philharmonie”, the “Wiener Sinfonietta”, the “Orchestra Symphonic di Roma”, as well as some of the most important orchestras in central-Europe, such as the “Czech National Symphony Orchestra”, and the orchestras of Latvia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Romania. She has also conducted orchestras in Italy, Austria, Germany, England, Mexico and the US.
She has recently won the Sabino Arana Prize.
