Tejada Palacios, Javier


Physicist

Borned in Castejón (Navarra) the 6th of January of 1948, Condensed Material Phisics professor from Barcelona Universitat and UBX laboratiry director. In 1970 he obtained the Phisics Bachelor´s degree and in 1975 he obtained the doctor degree in Phisics. Nowadays he is a member of the following institutions: Real Sociedad Española de Físicas, Societat Catalana de Física, New Academy of Sciences and American Physical Society.

His mayor scientific achievements are the following: :a) first experimental evidence of the magnetization tunnel effect (1992), spin resounding tunnel effect discovery (1996), spin quantum discovery (1999) y magnetic quantum combustion discovery (2006).

His teaching research and work has been developed in the following universities: Technische Universität from Munich, Paul Sabatier from Toulouse, Birmingham and Liverpool in the United Kingdom, Urbana Champaign from Illinois, Berkeley and San Diego from California, C.N.R.S. from Grenoble, City University from Nueva York.

He has published 290 papers in international magazines such as Science, Physical Review Letters, Physical ReviewB, Europhysics Letters, Applied Physics Letters or Nature Materials, and the citations of those papers go up to more than four thousands.He has also published more than 250 articles in different newspapers and he is an everyday features writer of Navarra´s Newspaper.He has writen three text books published by the Cambridge University Press (1998) and Rinton Press de Princeton (2006), editorials and he has been invited to give more than a hundred international conferences in different universities and research centres.

Javier Tejada counts with 14 international scope´s patents obtained collaborating with spanish and international enterprises.Likewise, he has led 32 basic research projects and 20 applied researches with enterprises. He has also run 17 dissertations and 28 doctoral thesis.

Among the prizes he has obtained we can enphasize: Monturiol´s Narcís Medal from Catalunya Generalitat (1994), Honoris Causa doctorate from City University of New York from New York (1996),International Award of Xerox Foundation (1998), Fellow of the American Physical Society (2000), Telecomunications Prize "Salva i Campillo" (2000), Scientific Distinction of Catalunya Generalitat (2001), Premio Príncipe de Viana of the Culture (2006), ICREA Catalunya Generalitat Academy(2009). Javier Tejada has recieved the National Prize of Investigation 2009.
